About this event

Nashville Public Library (NPL) is hosting one ticketed performance of NPL’s Wishing Chair Productions' String City, sponsored by Ingram Content Group.

String City: Nashville's Tradition of Music and Puppetry is a lively telling of the history of country music with a Nashville emphasis. Starting with the days of string-band and gospel music and continuing with the birth of the Grand Ole Opry, the audience meets the great icons of country music as the show travels through time, from classic recordings to present day hits. Nashville Public Library’s Wishing Chair Productions partnered with the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum to create this unique and fascinating history told through marionettes, rod puppetry, shadow/animation puppetry, with elaborate sets and original recordings. Audiences will delight in (puppet) appearances by Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, Garth Books, Taylor Swift, Alison Krauss, and many others!

All proceeds support the Nashville Public Library Foundation.

Ticket holder benefits also include:

  • Invitation to the Ingram reception directly following the performance.
  • A custom PLA Conference 2020 String City Hatch Show Print
