This story will leave you Breathless. Breathless is book three in the ‘Texas Nights’ series by Lex Martin. It follows Logan and Joey’s story. We have met both these characters previously in the other books, but now it’s their chance to shine. Logan and Joey have been friends for a long time. Joey’s had a not so secret crush on Logan ever since she was a teenager, but recently, she’d thought things were progressing, until one night she hears Logan talking negatively to someone… about her. This sends her into a spiral of despair and she does the only thing she can think of. She runs away. Six months later, she’s back- but only for her best friend Tori’s wedding. Tori is marrying Logan’s older brother, Ethan (the couple from book 2 Reckless) so it’s not so easy to avoid him. It’s even harder to escape when she finds out she has nowhere to stay. Logan saves the day by taking her home with him. Logan doesn’t understand why Joey is reticent to stay with him, they’re best friends or they were until she ghosted him six months ago. It’s not long before Logan is wishing he could put the BFF tag behind them, as he’s seeing Joey in a totally new light. He doesn’t want to be just friends anymore- but he has secrets that hold him back, ones he doesn’t want to let go. Joey and Logan are an incredible couple, they share an amazing rapport and chemistry. Their story is a wonderful addition to the two previous books, sweet, funny and lighthearted most of the time, there is a little bit of drama that was well played which I did not see coming. I enjoyed seeing more from Ethan and Tori, Grandma Beth and the kids, as well as Kat and Brady.

I have read quite a few of Lex’s books and I have to say Breathless is one of my most favorites by her. Breathless is your classic friends to lovers romance and it is breathtaking. Logan and Joey have been friends for years and Logan has been clueless every single one of those years. Joey has been in love with Logan since her teen years but he was older and not interested as playing the field was his thing. Always has been. Joey decides to leave Texas to relocate to Florida after hearing something that she misinterpreted. Now she is back for a wedding and Logan has no intention of letting her go. I was hooked on this book from the beginning. Breathless has everything you would expect a best friends to lovers romance to have. However, there is some drama and boy do I mean drama. The drama adds some spice to the story and keeps you very interested. Joey and Logan have chemistry from the start that is scorching hot. When Joey came back to Texas Logan started to see Joey in a new light and darnnn if he does not have his work cut out for him. Mrs. Martin has delivered another wordy creation that grabs you and keeps you interested. She gives her readers everything a reader would want from one of her books. I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next.

I will say this, the title of this book isn't a lie. This read will have you swooning and breathless as this couple's story unfolds. I was quickly captivated by the compelling blend of intense emotions, tension, angst, drama, secrets, lies, steam and twists in this friends to lovers romance. I thought Logan and Joey were well developed and likable characters and I found it very easy to become invested in them as a couple. This is the third book in this wonderful series but this book can be enjoyed as a standalone read. This my sincere review that I am choosing to post of my own accord.
